Today we will begin preparing for the Final Exam/Portfolio, which I've attached to this Do Now along with the course Writing Guide and Telescoping the Times packet.

As I mentioned, the Final Exam/Portfolio will be due the last week of May, and we will be working on it piece-by-piece until then. Also, the Final Exam will be cumulative, meaning that it covers everything we've learned in this course from chapter 13 (Changes on the Western Frontier) through chapter 19 (The First World War).
To start, simply compose a response to the Essential Question in ONE COMPLETE SENTENCE as a first draft of your THESIS STATEMENT (remember that a proper thesis statement answers who, what, when, where, why, and how) IN YOUR OWN WORDS (this is just a first draft to get us started so just try to recall everything you've learned and answer to the best of your ability for now):
How did America change at the turn of the 20th century?
