* Keep working on Part 1 of your final (Projects).  You have until this Friday, May 15, 2:30pm to complete it and turn it in

For each of the following, check the work and the answer.  Write either “it is correct as is”, or show the correct work and answer.  If the answer is wrong, explain why it is wrong in detail.<<<MANY of you didn’t follow these directions (no work, no correct answer, no explanations, etc.)

a)  -42 = 16  MOST of you said this was right!!?? Exponents first, then the negative!!!!!! The correct answer is -16   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!   You won’t do well on SATs or Freshman college math/placement tests* if you make this careless mistake!  REMEMBER PEMDAS!!!!!!

TURN THIS IN TODAY:  -52= ___-25_____    (-7)2=_____49______

b)  If r=0.5 and t=2,  ert = 3.29744  You must do the EXPONENT(s) FIRST  (PEMDAS)!!!!!   e0.5x2  is just e1 = e = 2.718 !!! 

TURN THIS IN TODAY:  If r=2 and t=3,   ert = ____403.1779________


c)  SQRT(-25) = -5  MOST of you didn’t answer this correctly either!!!!!   You CANNOT take the square root of a negative number!!!  NEITHER -5 x -5    nor  +5 x +5 equals -25 !!!!!!!  PLEASE use common sense and check whether what you put down actually works!!!!!!!!!   If you remember imaginary numbers, the answers are +/- 5i

TURN THIS IN TODAY:  SQRT(-81)=_____Not real_____________  (please don’t email me that can’t do this!!   I JUST told you!!   LOOK at the example 
above ^^^^   !!!!)


d)  CubeRoot(-8) = imaginary (no real number)  MANY of you did this wrong too.   The question is asking WHAT THREE (identical) numbers multiplied together gives you -8 (“cube root”).  
IT IS JUST -2  since  -2 x -2 x -2 = -8, so the answer is -2 !!! (a REAL number)
TURN THIS IN TODAY:  CubeRoot(-27)=___-3___
