1st Post requirements-
Select 3 of the attached questions to answer base on pages 41-61 of Manchild in the Promised Land.
Your answers to each question must be 4-5 sentences (does not include your quote).
Your posting must include textual evidence and be cited properly.
We will use the same rubric we used for our other online discussions. It is attached.
By Friday, March 27, 2020:
Respond to a minimum of 5 peers. (Responding to the minimum amount of people gets you a minimum grade of a 70) Spelling and grammar errors or failure to cite textual evidence will result in loss of points (See the rubric).
The more interactive you are, the better your grade will be.
Responses have no sentence minimum but should be substantive in quality and properly proofread/edited.

4-Where, in what ways, and to what ends does race appear and shape the ways in which characters interact with one another?
5- How do the language, values, or actions of the characters reflect, challenge, or reinforce perceptions of race?
6- How does the text reflect the varied experiences of people of color?
Sociological Lens:
1- How do social forces shape the power relationships between groups or classes of people in the story?
2- Who has the power, and who doesn’t? Why?
3- How does the story reflect the Great American Dream?
4- How does the story reflect urban, rural, or suburban values?
5- What does the work say about economic or social power? Who has it and who doesn’t? Any Marxist
leanings evident?
6-Does the story address issues of economic exploitation? What role does money play?
7-How do economic conditions determine the direction of the characters’ lives?
8-Does the work challenge or affirm the social order it depicts?
9- Can the protagonist’s struggle be seen as symbolic of a larger class struggle?
